In the above table some or all of the requirements for an A.S. degree are missing.

Points Discussed:

  • This is going to be a tech degree and results in a license to practice as an Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • We could possibly make this an associates of applied science (AAS) degree.
  • Needs to fit into 5 semesters with a maximum of 80 hours
  • Would it be possible to include activity credit in PTAS 150 Fundamentals of Phiscal Therapy Practice?
    • Not sure about this. We did have programs in the past that put activity in one of their classes. However we don't have that now (Checked today in the catalog)
    • Would be taught outside of the P.E. department
  • Oral Comm. IN-3 was originally in the mix, but we removed it after some discussion. At least in this degree oral communication is touched on in PTAS 207 (Data collection course) and PTAS 225 (Capstone course)
    • Christopher would prefer Oral Comm to History.

The GE committee needs to discuss what is required for a tech degree. This needs to be on par with what was decided for the A.T. degrees.

See this link for a comparison of A.T. and other Degrees.
